Taste Test--Dukes, Hellmans, Miracle Whip or ??

I don't know about you all, but I have a slew of tomatoes!! Some from my garden (I have only one little bush!!) Some from cousins, friends, and neighbors! I don't turn them down! But what's a girl to do when she has a mountain of them? Make a tomato pie, of course!!

I am going to give you the recipe for this yummy pie that I tasted last year at a picnic. But first, we need to take a taste test!! One of the main ingredients is mayonnaise. Now, I know that some of you don't like mayo, but I do!! Grew up on it and love it bunches!! And I know how "healthy" it is as well! We'll just skip over that part!

Here's the deal. Let me know where you're from and which mayo is your favorite! It will be interesting to see if certain parts of the country/other countries have the same likes!! I would love to get a ton of responses for this "fun, no prizes awarded" contest!!! Help me out chickadees!! I think I know which one will win!!!! I'll let y'all know on Monday's post!

Tomato Pie
1 pie crust (deep dish)
2-3 tomatoes sliced
1 small onion chopped ( I use onion powder so my kids don't go bananas!)
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 c. mayo!!!
1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper ( I salt and pepper the tomatoes)

Bake the pie crust. Layer the tomato and onion. Mix the remaining ingredients and spread on top. Bakle at 350 15-20 minutes. Mine is in the oven now. Child #2 happened to see me making it. He politely asked if he could take out the tomatoes and eat the cheese and pie shell!! Y'all, I'm trying to serve them new dishes!! It's not working too well!!

Hope you enjoy this easy recipe from my friend Amy. Don't forget to let us know your favorite mayonnaise! ( Yes, I know it is the end of the summer, and yes,we are grown women having a contest about mayonnaise! It's Friday!! What can I say?)

Sweet Blessings!

No contest! Hands down Hellman's!! Just the thought of other Mayo...ewww!LOL And yes, I grew up in the North, so that says why its 'The Real Mayonaise'.

We had come for a visit one summer to NC... and I was so excited to have a Turkey, chees, lettuce and tomato(from the flea martket--home grown yummy goodness) sandwhich... salt and pepper sprinkled on it. My aunt tells me that Duke's is just like Hellman's. Girls, it is not!! I took my first bite of my anticipated sandwhich and promoptly spit it back out! Eck!

The pie sounds really good! I may have to try it. We always use Miracle Whip.

I use to be a die hard fan of Miracle Whip. I still like it. Love the sweetness on a bologna and cheese sandwhich. Years back I started using Mayo on some other things. I use only Mayo in potato salad. No sweetnees needed there.

I have to say that Hellman's is in my fridge. I don't believe we have any other brand at our Walmart unless there's a generic.

I've never heard of Duke's.

I must say I've been craving Miracle whip though. To me though MW is not the same as mayo. Different breed. I think I will have to partake now of some MW on a bologna/cheese sandwhich. I've got the makins except for the MW and bologna. I think I'll have to buy now.

Fun contest on a Friday.

I love me some tomatoes but I just don't know about this. If I had others in the home I could toss it off on, I might try it.

Only Hellmann's is the REAL mayonnaise. It says so on the label! But honestly, for me there is no other!

This recipe sounds great. We have lots of Jersey tomatoes. Will try it this weekend!

I used to use Duke's but now I'm a fan of Hellman's Light.
I stockpile it and have had as many as 7 jars at a time in my pantry.
The pie sounds like something I would really enjoy.

Hellman's (hands-down) - - and none of that "light" stuff! :)

Susan,
What is the secret to getting those tomatoes red? I have a slew of them. Some are orange and some are green. None are red!

Without a doubt it Hellmans or Best Foods in CA. But I have to confess that I buy the generic brand equivalent. :)

Hellman's Light is my favorite! I only started using the "light" because of our cholesterol issues. I love mayo but can't stand "salad dressing". Not sure what the difference is but the salad dressing tastes sour to me!

I'm all over Miracle Whip, light or free. ALL OVER IT! ;-)

BUT...I had to by me some Hellman's just this afternoon as I'm baking a quiche and it called for real mayonnaise. Hmmm...what's up with that?

Love YOU,

Thanks for the tomatoes advice!
When it comes to our kid's faith, I am SO learning we have to be faithful to pour it in and then release them to the Holy Spirit to work it out. It is a walk of faith for sure!

I'm laughing over here! I think Hellman's will be doing a victory dance! Wheee!lol

I'm a fan of the Light, too. It's really good!

OK...well..maybe I just don't have discerning tastebuds, but I buy whatever brand is on sale!! Now, how will you work that into your research? Will you conclude that we Canadians are just 'cheap'? HAHAHA!!!!

Love ya,

Hellmans....for our family...This summer has been so crazy that I have not visited some of my favorite blogs often. I always enjoy stopping by yours. Have a Happy Sunday! I have a giveaway going through Monday morning.

We are a mayo family here and I have to admit that we've switched to Light simply because our waistline isn't so light.. ;)

My mom is a 'non-negotiable' Miracle Whip fan though so anytime she's due to come over I make sure to have some on hand for her.

Never heard of Duke's?

Grew up on Miracle Whip, but when Hellman's came along I ditched MW! :) If it was healthy, I'd probably eat it like yogurt. lol...gross, just kidding!!!
I know I'm late, but that is my vote. I have both in the fridge right now, but Hellman's is the big jar! :)

I like Hellman's. I made your tomato pie for dinner tonight. Even my picky eater liked it! Yum, it was good! I'll be putting it on my blog soon and I'll link back to you!

I have NEVER EVER heard of TOMATO PIE! But is sure sounds good. I'd like to root for the underdog, but I LOVE Hellmans...My husband brings home another brand occasionally, but then is stuck with me grimacing for the duration of a whole jar. Grew up with just Miracle Whip... so when I first tried Helmans it was like the most gourmet thing I'd ever tasted! hehe! Well, I guess I know what lunch will be today! :-)... Oh, and I'm in Nova Scotia... Wonder if I'm the only vote from Canada? What a crazy-fun little 'contest'... or study perhaps! Maybe you can sell this post to Hellmans? :-)...
