The Proverbs 31 Woman:More Precious than Rubies

Hey, y'all!

I've noticed several blogs that contain questions for their readers to respond to ....and some bloggers actually give out prizes!! Since I have no extra income being a substitute teacher---no school equals no income-- I cannot offer a prize for your input!!! Sorry! But... I will say "thank you" a gajillion times and hug your neck if I ever meet you! Being said....here goes.

Back in May, I was asked to lead a 4 week summer Bible study at my church. I prayed about it and agreed. I EVEN got to come up with the topic. Since my mind was focused on the She Speaks conference, I chose the Proverbs 31 woman. I have truly researched and prayed about this. Here's the deal--next Sunday, July 13, I have the ministry moment at church to promote this Bible study. Not a problem getting in front of folks--y'all, I love to talk! The issue is that the study has not come together yet! I really wanted the entire study to be finished by now. It's not!!!

I am trying to target young moms to come to this study--we have child care available. Each week's lesson is a stand alone study. So, if vacation is holding you back from signing up, having a study that doesn't build on the previous week shouldn't prevent you from coming. I want to make it as easy as possible for these ladies to come once a week to learn what God's Word says and to apply it to their lives.

Here's what I would love you out in bloggy land to help me with !! One---pray, pray, pray that women will be drawn to this study, and they will be blessed by it. Two---pray, pray, pray that God shows me specifically what He wants these women to learn. There are many virtues of the P31 woman, and I only have 4 weeks (1.5 hours each Monday) to share. I am trying to condense and not overlook the importance of each quality. Three---pray, pray, pray that I will show radical obedience (I finished Lysa TerKeurst's book about this --awesome!) as I discern His voice, and that He gets all of the glory.

I thank you in advance for your help!!! Y'all are wonderful!!! Happy Sunday.

Blessings,
Susan

I will say a prayer that you will be lead to do what God had intended during this next study.

I am not the most creative but if something comes to me than I be sure to pass it onto my little friend :)

YEAH...you have a blog up and running!!! Did that happen while I was on vacation? So glad to find you here!!!!

I'll definitely be praying for you. Sounds like God is opening up some amazing doors for you. Regardless of response and numbers, know that you are being obedient - and if even for one lady, God is going to use you!!!!
(Praying however, that more will come!)

Keep us posted!

I don't know if you have the time, but I taught a similar bible study at our church a few months ago and I used Lysa's book The Seven Life Principles for every woman. They've changed the name now to something like A Woman's guide to a busy life, I think, but if you google it, the book should come up. It was really helpful for teaching about the P31 woman! Maybe it would help you too. Take care!

Susan-I will pray for your Bible study. Before I met the P1 Ministry I found the P31 women so intimadating and I am sure the women in your church feel the same. Make her real!!

Visiting today from Aroma of Joy...

This sounds like a great Bible Study, I am a young mom (well I guess young is a matter of perspective right?) And I feel like the Proverbs 31 Woman can be very overwhelming and intimidating.
It helps me to focus on God's love for me, and that He wants a relationship with me and in this relationship He will teach me and fill me with the attributes of this Proverbs 31 woman.

I am praying for you and know God will do great things through you!

Hey there,

I will definitely pray for your study, for God's directing of your thoughts and for the women whose lives will be touched by it.

The P31 woman is a model woman...the personification of wisdom. Since you have four weeks and not 10, I recommend you focus on the essence of a few of her characteristics and don't worry about covering them all.

Based on my personal experience, being a young mom can be so overwhelming. I was struggling just to keep it together each day. If I would have studied the P31 woman at that stage of my life I probably would have cried at how far I was from her. Young moms already feel like they aren't doing enough for themselves, their families or God.

You want to challenge the women in the study to take the next step in faith, but not discourage them. Taken as a whole, attaining the virtues of the P31 woman, can seem impossible. Like, why even bother trying.

Try to concentrate on a few facets of her as she relates to your young moms. I'll pray that God gives you specific insight into the scripture.

My thoughts are probably a little scrambled. Let me know if you want more of my "two cents."

Praying for you,
Kelli

Oh this will be an awesome study! I will pray for you but I just know you will bless these women. I can feel your passion and enthusiasm through the computer. I facilitate a women's study throughout the summer. For the past 3 years we have read the "Bad Girls of the Bible" books. They are the perfect length for summer (1 chapter a week) and they are "stand alone" chapters so missing a week isn't an issue.

Good luck with your study, I cant wait to hear more about it!!
