Wisdom and Teeth

Child #1 is on the couch sleeping peacefully thanks to a "happy drug" prescribed by the oral surgeon this morning. Yep, he had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at 8 today. Such a fun way to spend a day off from school. And, the weather is just perfect outside! Sunny and in the 60's! I plan on running in a bit. I need child #2 to come and watch brother sleep while mama runs!! How exciting will that be?

I am working on my photography website as I shared with you all. I'll tell you, if you are as computer illiterate as I am, even the easiest sites are HARD!!! I have gotten really frustrated with my lack of skills and the slowness of my computer--but, praise the Lord, it is working! Baby steps is the way to go. Plus, I am having to learn how to use Photoshop. Have y'all ever used the newest version(CS4)? My word, it's hard! There are no instructions! You have to find tutorials from other websites. Or, you can pay $$$ for one-on-one instruction!! Simply taking pictures is the old-fashioned way...now, you have to have computer skills as well to have a successful business! Please pray for me!

This sorta correlates to God's instructions for us. Thankfully, after years of telling the Bible stories, they were written down for us. We can simply open His Word and read it for ourselves. We don't have to go all over the place trying to figure out His will for us. Or do we still do it?

If you simply skim over your Bible, you will miss the beauty of His wisdom! You have to dig in the Book to find those nuggets of truth that He has just for you. Spending uninterrupted time with Him is something that has to be done in order to truly understand. I know that I keep going back to Mary and Martha, but that story speaks volumes to me. Mary "got it!" She wasn't flittin' all over the place trying to pick up the house and prepare the meal and dust the furniture, etc. She sat. She listened. She was quiet! It's the same back then as it is today. We have to listen to Jesus through the Word. Remember the story of Eli and Samuel? Samuel didn't realize that God was talking to him. He was so young, he thought it was Eli calling out to him. Nope, it was God.

Are we listening to God today? Do we hear His desires for us? He has a purpose for each one of us if only we will stop and listen.

I had no idea that this post was going to turn out like this! I guess God had plans other than my own! I WAS going to ask if any of you knew a thing about Photoshop CS4!!! If so, please share your knowledge with me!! Thank you! Help me get out of "frustrated land!"

Y'all have a wonderful day!

Sweet Blessings,

Susan - your words were like warmth to my heart today.
I love the little reminder that I have to LISTEN.
So often I have my quiet time carved out for prayer/bible study in the mornings....but as soon as I'm finished, I jump up without taking time to LISTEN.

I'm grateful for the gentle reminder today... :)

Oh I still remember having my wisdom teeth out many moons ago! Praying for your sweet son! Ouch!

And isn't it funny sometimes how are days and posts go in a completely different direction than we think?

I am sorry -- I know NOTHING about the photo stuff! Can't wait to see your new blog though!

Hope that boy recovers as quickly as my girl did. She was up and at it the same day, a bit unusual. As for photoshop, no help here. I do good just to get a blog post up. Have a wonderful week! Jackie

Wisdom teeth extraction! I pray your child does well. Our daughter had a VERY difficult time. I am saying an extra prayer for you and yours.

Photo shop...whew...I am totally illiterate in those areas. SORRY!!

Hope you figure it out and have a blessed day.

Susan,
We had a beautiful day here today. Not in the 60s, but sunny and warm-ish. Hope your run was as rewarding as my long walk. :-)

Oh, I can relate to your technical challenges. I know Photoshop fairly well (It is soooo complex), but I know you'll get it. Check out your community college for adult education courses on it. Way easier than trying to teach yourself.

I'm working on my church's website right now and no matter how tech-savvy I thought I was, this task is testing the limits of my knowledge...and patience!!

Great tie in to our time in the Word. Yes, sometimes we need to pause and dig deep to get all the Lord has to offer us.

Praying that your son recovers quickly. OUCH! At least he has a wonderful mama to dote on him.

It's great to catch up with you here. I've missed stopping by.

Hugs,
Kelli

You need to chat with Shirl at "sketches of a common life"--she's all about the photography gig and has become a dear, precious friend of mine. If she knows anything about photoshop, I know she'd love to help you. Here's the link...

Now, quit flitting around and get down to the meat and bones of what you're doing here. No skimming the surface sister... not with photography, not with God!

Love you.

Hi! I've been out of the blogging loop so long...but I'm back! Glad your son is recovering from his surgery. I had it at 17 myself!

I don't know photoshop either, but can't wait to see your photos!

My friend Pam did what you are doing now about 8 months ago or so. She now has a booming business. Taking shots, selling pictures, did Cmas cards, doing note cards with photos. She's an awesoome photographer and she's using PhotoShop to enhance her pics. They are killer good!

Hope your kiddo #1 is doing better soon. I appreciate your thoughts. I have really been thinking a lot about the reading about Joseph. His brothers did this cruel thing to him, he is in prison...all the while staying centered on God and God's plans for his life. Staying centered and focused on God's will puts you exactly where you are suppose to be. Just my thoughts the last few days. I think I might need to post that :)
Blessings,
Amy

Susan,
I hope your son is doing well this evening! Our youngest son had his wisdom teeth removed last year. I blogged about it! Here are a couple of links to it:

Sorry...I'm barely computer-literate, and I know nothing about photoshop! Maybe Shirl could tutor a group of us. ;-)

Goodness... he seems so young to be having them out already! Better sooner than later, though. I remember sleeping the day of the surgery and not wanting to get up the next day either. Those meds they gave were REALLY good.lol

Not familiar with that one. Have a couple other of their programs, but not that one. Sorry!

Susan, so proud of you and for you for getting going on this new venture, but no, I know nothing about photoanything! But your're right, when something is worth doing and worth achieving there is often more involved than we ever expected. I'm finding that too in my latest ventures. I'm having to work a lot harder than I really even have time for!
You go girl! You can do this thing!

Hope Austin is doing better with each day. I agree, not the way you would love to plan being out of school.

Don't forget to call on Scott if you think he can help with your website.

SO proud of you!!

I love how your blog turned out! Wonderful words of wisdom...I know so often I don't slow down long enough to just be still and listen.

Hope your son is feeling better. Our daughter just had the same surgery on Dec. 29th. Luckily for her the weather was pretty cold and she couldn't go out. Hopefully he'll feel up to getting out and about in the next day or so. Take care and I love the idea of lunch!!
