Change My Heart

I took a few minutes this morning to read a couple of blogs. I was reading Darby's blog, and she referred to a family in Alabama. Read her words and see what jumps out at you.

"The house is unbelievable and as wonderful as the images are, the house is even more beautiful in real life, I wish you could see the bedrooms, bathrooms and Mitch’s office! Mitch & Gaye have been incredible mentors to Justin & I for many years. They absolutely love the Lord and have used their fabulous house for His glory and I’m so happy for them!" ( This home is going to be featured in the Feb. issue of Southern Living.)

So, what struck your eye? Yes, I love beautiful houses and would love for someone to turn mine into one! But look at the sentence Darby used to describe the owners of the house. They have been mentors to Darby and her hubby. They love the Lord and have used their house for His glory. Stop...think...pray.

"Father, have I used my home for your glory? Or, am I waiting for it to all come together decorated and fluffed up so that it looks great? Sometimes I'll put off having others over if I don't have time to clean and dust. God, change my heart! I truly want my home--that you have provided for us---to be for your glory. Show me how! I love you, Lord. Amen."

This really has hit my heart today as I look around at the piles of laundry waiting to be put away. At the kitchen island covered in memorial thank you notes. At the hardwoods now showing doggy prints from the rain. Hmm....what should I do? Change my heart, Father God. Make me more like you.

Sweet Blessings,

That's beautiful. I know what you mean...our apartment is in a state of disaster right now...but I do have to say that the bed bugs did that. :(

Thank you for your post!!

AMEN!
Are we using all the blessings in our life...great or small for HIS glory?

Thank you for this. I think so often we become so wrapped up in how it should appear to others that we forget to just share our hearts with others in our homes. Truly the only thing that God sees in our homes anyway.
Blessings,
Amy

Such great insight you have. It really comes down to a matter of the heart. I believe wealth used in a way to glorify God is fine. I love what this couple did in mentoring.

Blessings,
Debbie

funny how you blog about this. Scott and I have said we wanted to change. We have closed ourself off in ways this past year using the "job thing" as a reason for not having others over. NO MORE. We are on the path to opening our home and making time for our friends more.

We only have today to do what we say we will do. We are never promised tomorrow.

Don't you love to see Believers using what gave them for HIS glory?! Love this.

Oh Amanda... I love that this is what you picked of all that I said because really I meant it. They could live in a smaller not so lovely house and still use it for His glory. I love design, I love beautiful things but it's all for nothing if it's not used for the Glory of God!!

Such a great "wake up" for all of us!

I do know that I'm most content when my home is filled with people; people eating, people laughing, people studying scriptures, people watching a movie, people sharing life. When they're not here, the house is sad.

I also know there's nothing like the arrival of guests to light a fire beneath my domestic foot-draggin'. Funny how things get done when they have to get done.

Blessings,
Kathleen

I am with you on this one! I have been subbing everyday this week except MLK holiday, my house looks like an explosion, so much cleaning that needs to be done, but I feel the same way, and I have made a commitment to do this. I have already begun to invite some ladies over the first of Feb, so it will have to do, with the exception of some cleaning, but I cannot wait till I have that beautiful house that I would like for it to be. I think the Lord is waiting for me to use what I have, and He has provided more than enough! Thanks for the reminder. Jackie

Amen, girl! God has pricked my heart about this very subject! God keeps asking me, 'What matters more, your home, or that people could find their eternal home by having fellowship together with you?' Ouch!

Thank you for sharing this!

P.S. You going to SSpeaks this year?

This is such a good one Susan! I am like so many others, when I KNOW company is coming, everything gets done! I need to be more available and flexible with my home, remembering always who it belongs to.

Thanks for the good reminder!

How true! So often I do the exact same thing. God has been so good to me and blessed us in so many ways, I need to more freely open my home and give back in a spontaneous way...not just planned.

I haven't fotgotten to email you...just trying to get a grip on the Feb. schedule.

Susan,

Thank you for stopping by my blog last week and sharing your heart and asking for prayer. I would like to pray for you now.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Susan's precious heart to serve You and to share Your Word and Your Love with everyone she meets. Lord, she has come to You with a heart longing for love and unity in a particular circumstance. Father, we pray for perfect unity in heart and purpose in this situation. We ask that whatever is standing in the way of this, You would knock it down and move it completely out of the way. We pray that there would be oneness in heart, mind, and spirit. Father, we pray that Your Word would prevail, Your Truth would reign supreme. If hearts need to be softened, Lord, please soften them. If mountains need to be moved, Lord, please move them. Lord bring together these ministries so that in union with each other, they can do an even greater and mightier work in Your name, reaching more women, marriages, families, and homes in Your name. We leave this with You at the cross, trusting Your will will be done. In Jesus' name. AMEN.

Love you and praying,

Wendy
