I sorta missed my Wednesday post! There's just a lot going on. And, I'm trying to sneak in extra mileage on the roads right now in preparation for a race in just a few weeks! Spring Break begins tomorrow! I don't know who is more excited--the kids or me!
I got one of those wonderful phone calls yesterday afternoon from a precious friend! She had a wicker bookshelf that she no longer needed....could I use it??? Well....y'all know the answer to that one! Most definitely "yes!" This is what I got, and it's lovely! I am thinking of spray painting it black--it's going it the study(everything is going in there right now!) What would y'all use to fluff it up a bit???
Now,this is definitely a dilemma! I found two of these at my favorite thrift store down the street for 2.00 each! But they are just UGLY! Should I paint them? They are in the den on the mantle...I need lots of advice on what to do here. I use red, blue, and yellow in this room with some pops of black. Help me, friends!!! Oh, and remember the bu-jay!!! Hubby and I went to the envelope system this week. We are actually seeing some positives! But, it "ain't" easy!!! (This is the system that Dave Ramsey teaches).
Finally, I am really being convicted to memorize scripture! It is so important! I have always struggled with this. So, the boys and I have found a scripture for the first half of this month. It's "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:6). It's on the refrigerator on hot pink paper that cannot be helped but noticed!! We'll give it a try! I surely need my paths to be straightened!!
Y'all have a wonderful weekend! Pray that the wind (major wind gusts here!) doesn't blow me away as I run for the next few hours...I am truly procrastinating here, chickadees!!!
Many Blessings!

Hey, girl!
I was just thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you are doing!
Okay....I am NO help with decorating! But I am sure I will be impressed with whatever you do!
And way to go on memorizing scripture! I am too off and on with it. I'm gonna let your motivation motivate me to make sure I really do it! :)
Love you tons, you sweet, spunky lady!
Can anyone really squeeze in 18 MILES in one day...lol!! You are funny. Hope the other 8 are wonderful. You are getting one hard WIND workout.
Not sure about the flowers in the containers. May have to see this in person.
That wicker peice may be perfect for your screened in porch.
just a thought chic :)
I would spray paint the vases. I'm addicted to the spray paint called "hammered". It has a hammered effect. I just used two cans on my old green metal filing cabinet. It's a hammered brown. You can also get hammered copper, hammered silver, and hammered black. I love, love, love it. About $5 at Walmart.
Hey Susan-I think your vases could be so pretty with some cream paint. Or...white paint with antique glaze. The cream would work great with the colors in your artwork over the mantel. Oh, and by the way, your woodwork is amazing! Your new wicker piece would look fab in black! You go girl...
P.S. I think that scripture will be on my inspiration board very soon.

I'm with Misti, I'd go light on the vases, they would be great with a glaze to highlight the details. And I LOVE the wicker!
Let me reply to your comment first...I am not actually running a half a marathon...In one of the recent issues of Fitness magazine there was a guide to running a half a marathon in 8 weeks. I thought that it would be the perfect workout considering I need something structured and it was tailored to my 8 week goal...
Now for the wicker book case...I love this! Awesome that you memorized that verse!
Love the wicker! Can't wait to see what you do with it!
Glad to hear you are on the run...must be healing well and on the ROAD to recovery (yes, pun).
If you are still going with the black & hot pink color scheme, you could weave some hot pink ribbon through the lattice back just below a shelf and tie a bow in the middle. Give it a feminine look. Just one row under each shelve, so not to be too much.
Anyway - keep up the good work... running the race...for marathons and for Jesus!
My husband & I are taking a financial class at our church together and just this past week they talked about using the envelopes! It's so hard for us because we have direct deposit, which means we would have to go and take all the money out of the bank every friday, which is hard!
Good luck with that! I think we may try it to!
Hey there! Those vases aren't too bad, but what about a creamy white with a brown glaze over them, lightly glazed. That would stand out against your wood and look pretty good, I think.
Good for you for memorizing scripture. That is so hard for me to do, but you're right, it's so needed.
Oh & I went back after posting mine & see that some other ladies think the creamy white would be good too. Great minds & all! That's a great freebie bookcase too.
Hey! Something for you on my blog...love you! Love the wicker shelf!
Hey there, I came over from Melanie's. Great blog and wanted to say hi! (I'm a runner too!)
