I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends

Hey, y'all!!

I have not dropped off the face of the earth! School started here this week, and I have actually substituted for the past two days! Quite a change from the lazy days of summer just as recently as this past Monday!! Oh, my! I love subbing! The children are precious, crayons are in one piece, lunches are WAY too early (I'm eating my turkey sandwich at 10:40 am!!), and best of all, NO LESSON PLANS! Subbing has its advantages! I also am getting up at he crack of dawn--not to run--but to work! Finding time for my "quiet time" is a struggle! I personally enjoy spending time with the Lord first thing in the morning! It just seems to get my day off to a better start! And if Jesus did it, I can at least try to also! Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. Mark 1:35 I will try to get caught up over the weekend and read your wonderful new posts!!

God's vision for our church's Women's Ministry is growing! I am so excited, ya'll! We are scheduled to have a planning meeting on Sept. 3! It's just around the corner! We are inviting a cross section of women of various ages, and those who are married, single, widowed, etc. to pray, dream and share what God has laid upon their hearts for our church. Our mission statement is to have women fall in love with His Word. The verse for next year is "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." Mark 12:29.

Here's where I need a little help from my bloggy friends!! I CAN'T think of a cute name for this group!!! All I can come up with is "Dream Team." That sounds like Michael Jordan and the Olympic basketball team from years ago! That is not what I envisioned this group to look like!! Do y'all have any ideas? I would love to have a great name for it when inviting ladies to attend. I'm sure that we'll have yearly meetings such as this, so some continuity would be wonderful! Help!! And bless your sweet little hearts!

Hope that y'all have a fabulous weekend! Child #1 has his first cross country meet in Charlotte in the morning, so that's where we'll be until lunch! I am really excited! I hope that he has fun and enjoys the event.

Blessings,

I don't think Team Dirty Feet would fit. You will come up with the perfect name at just the right moment.

Will miss you in the morning. We have a group of 5 for the trails.

How I love Mark 12:29. I am so glad God is moving the plans for your church's women's ministry along (as if we ever thought He wouldn't!).

You could be The Lord's Ladies but that sounds kinda medieval. I'm not real creative with names but I know God will give someone the right name for your group.

On another note I don't personally know Vonda Skelton but I love her blog. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to be at a conference where she's teaching. If not then I'll make sure I register early next year for her writer's retreat up in the mountains. I got in too late this year and am only on the waiting list :(

Our group is called the Church Chicks! You could also find out what you think you what your group to "look" like and call it something like Titus 2 Women, Proverbs 31 Women, The Fruit Basket (Fruits of the spirit), etc.

One caution, don't get "too cute." Perhaps an older woman wouldn't want to join the "church chicks" feelings she is too old. (My church chicks group is all stay home moms with young kids). Sometimes simple can be best "the XXXXX Church Women's Ministry" invites all to come.

Glad you're back! I was missing your blog!

Hey Susan. I saw a video over at God tube, that I thought you would enjoy, being a runner/athlete. It is a Christian man who is a double amputee and did the iron man. It isn't too long, and is very inspiring. Hope you don't mind if I post the link here. I was going to just email it to you, but didn't see a link to email.
love ya - Kelly

I am so sad...I just typed the huge story of my YARD SALE side board and the post didn't go through...no time to type it all again but to say....(sit down for this one). Yard sale, last SAturday...$100. Yep, she said she knew she could sell it at a antique store for $800 but didn't want to deal with it. I told her I'd deal with it just fine. :)

Susan, I'm not much help to you as our church Ladies Group is currently looking for a new name. We used to be called, "Morning Friendship Hour" because it included our Tuesday morning Bible study, but we've had that name for so long and now newcomers don't know exactly what "Morning Friendship Hour" involves...is it just social...does it include Bible study...etc??? We're needing a face-lift too!

At a previous church I attended there was a Ladies Group called, "Women Growing Strong". I liked that. Women growing strong in the Lord - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Can't wait to hear what you come up with!
Sweet blessings today,
Joy

That is great you are being blessed by subbing! God is good! I am going to encourage my teacher friend with this who is starting back subbing this September (after being home with her young children for several years).

Will be praying for His fruit for your Women's Ministry. Can't think of a name off hand, but if I do....I'll be in back! :)

How did your cherub make out on Saturday morning??

Blessings to you!

I don't know what to tell you regarding a name for your group. Just ask the Ladies, then you can all vote on one. It will make it "their" group.

Loved your site,
Sonya

I am excited for your group to meet next week and brainstorm ideas, I am anxiously awaiting to see what these women share!

Sorry...I have no great title at this moment.

May you continue to be blessed through your "sub" work! That is some hard stuff...or it at least it was for our subs when I was in school...hehe!

How bout something to do with finding God's vision for the new women's ministry...

Visionators?

Visionistas?

Or...maybe the GG's

God's Glory Girls

or....how 'bout

G'Va's (God's Vision Achieved)
(sounds like divas)

and...this may not be feminine enough...but you called the group of ladies a "cross section" of the women in your church. "CROSS" section? get it? ;)

I'm in the same place as you are.
We are having our first ladies event mid-September.
In the church I ministered at for seven years our leadership team was called WILD "Women In Leadership Development" ~ They loved it and it really fit their personalities ~ A little scary.
When you have your meeting just let every body throw some ideas out and soon the personality of the team will just create the name. I'll be praying for you.
Blessings, Cindy

So excited for your ministry growth and possibilities. I love your focus...learning to love God's Word. I'm not very creative tonight, but will ponder the possibilities as I lay my weary head down.

Hi Susan,

School started here too... and I am getting used to my "new normal".

I can't help you with a name... my little group still doesn't have an official name. I am so excited about your women's group getting off to a start. You will be so blessed.

Our new study starts today... and the Pink Shoe Lady is coming. I can't wait to meet her. I feel like you brought us together. We lived right in the same little town and didn't even know each other... and now we will be getting together once a week to study God's Word together. How great is that??

Let us know how it goes.
Lynn

Susan,
I'm glad you're back! Hooray for subbing...now aren't you glad you didn't pursue the job opportunity you had a couple of months ago?

Sorry, I've got no names to suggest...I can't think of one for my own group! If you have any runner's up, toss them my way.

I'm praying for you!
Blessings,
Kelli
