Summer Reading List

Remember when your last report card of the year contained the reading list for the upcoming school year? (Actually, I am way too old because they didn't have summer reading lists in the dark ages!) For you young ones, hopefully you will remember the excitement that accompanied the list! That is the reader and teacher in me!

I am taking a poll today. Since we just got back from our vacation, I now have some down time to read! (Sounds kind of backwards doesn't it?) I LOVE reading! I was able to read "Same Kind of Different as Me" and "Texas Roads" on the beach! Both are by Christian authors. One was fiction and the other, nonfiction. The author of "Same Kind of Different," Ron Hall, spoke recently here in town at a fund raising dinner for the homeless. Amazing testimony!

I am also reading Elaine Olsen's book, "Peace for the Journey... in the Pleasure of His Company." Love this one! Each devotional contains rich scripture and questions to ponder and pray. It's one that I will make last a while!!

So...my poll! What books are you reading this summer for pleasure? I'm not talking about your Bible study books. Those are wonderful, and I really would like to know what you are studying (I am still reading through the Bible with Wendy Pope and have just started Ephesians with Wendy Blight.)

But, for the purpose of this post, just tell us what book/s you plan on reading this summer or share one of your lastest treasures. I can't wait to hear what your plans are!

(BTW, I didn't participate in Sweet Shot Tuesday today. I was actually out of town on a photo shoot in 100 degree weather!! Mercy! But it was a ton of fun! Will share pictures with you all soon of 6 children ages 3 and under!)

Sweet Blessings!

I will have to check back in and see what everyone is going to be reading! I could use some good "just for fun" book suggestions myself!

Thanks for the sweet birthday wishes!
Hugs,
K :)

Well, Susan, you must read Marybeth's newly released novel The Mailbox. It's a great summertime read. Even if you don't typically read fiction, give this one a try.

Love ya! ~ Rachel

Hi Susan:
I just finished Francine Rivers new novel and I have already misplaced it and can't remember the title, but as with all of hers... I loved it!

If you would email me, and don't mind sharing your address in an email, I would love to send you one of the books on dad.

Hugs!

I don't have much time for reading right now, but one book I'm loving (please don't call me a nerd) is William Willimon's (Presiding Bishop of North Alabama Conference) "This We Believe: The Core of Wesleyan Faith and Practice". I know... it sounds so boring, but he is actually a fabulous writer and is helping me down the theological track I've longed lived but haven't always been able to articulate.

Hi there, friend,
It's so great to stop by here for a visit. I've missed you!

I am looking for some good summer reads, so your post is timely.

Right now I'm reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan. It's excellent.

I'm also reading Night by Elie Wiesel.

I'm going to have to check out some of the recommendations here as well. I'm in need of some good fiction.

Happy reading and happy summer!
Hugs,
Kelli

I'm also reading Elaine's "Peace for the Journey". Have done the first part of the Ephesians study on Wendy Blight's blog but am not sure if I will do it every week as I am going to do the Ruth study by Kelly Minter with the Beth Moore summer Bible study group on LPM blog.

Happy Summer!

I loved "Same Kind of Different as Me" too! Being from Dallas, Texas, it held extra interest for me.

I am about to read "The Help." I have heard so many great comments on the book that today I finally decided to purchase it.
