Ponder and Pray

Hello sweet bloggyland friends! I don't know about y'all, but Runner Mom is ready for school to be over and done with! I subbed a couple of days last week, and it's all over except the shouting! And, our county has another week and a few half days left! Mercy!

This past weekend was wonderful! Along with celebrating my "29th and holding" birthday, our 6th graders at church celebrated their Confirmation yesterday. I have been a mentor to a darling friend...Miss K. She and her family are dear friends of ours, and it has been a pleasure to pray for her and spend time with her.

Next Sunday at church, I am scheduled to teach my own adult Sunday School class. The topic...whatever I would like to from the Bible! We have 2 weeks before we implement our summer studies of the Ten Commandments. So....another gal and I are pondering and praying about what to teach!

I have a few ideas in mind, but I would love to hear what is on your hearts. What have you all been studying either in SS or in small groups that has made an impact on your spiritual walk? What spiritual lessons has God given you lately? I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

"May He give us the desire to do His will in everything...." 1 Kings 8:58

Sweet Blessings!

Hey girl! 1 Kings really spoke to me this morning, too. I had never read that verse before today. Love it!

God is truly dealing with my heart in the matter of... letting the Spirit become dormant inside me. Ouch!! I'm hoping to get a post up tonight or tomorrow about it. Too many times I allow things to take over my life-- I let me take over, really. *sigh* Wicked, wicked, flesh!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday! Like you, I've been holding onto that 29th for a while now.

What a precious gift for you to mentor! I know you are such a role model for that young lady.

I'm ready for school to be out as well. We have 12 days left and boy am I ready for a break. Katie's school works on the University's schedule...which I love.

Good luck with your lesson topics. Our SS class has recently been studying a book about biblical responses to controversial issues. It has been very thought provoking, but takes it all back to God's word.

Take care,
Ginger :)

I suppose I already answered that with my latest post, but you can't go wrong with the Bible, sister. Pick something that speaks personally to you and don't worry about the rest. Read up on it and have a few good questions handy and then let the Spirit lead. You're going to do great.

By the way, I need a mentor. Would you be mine?

Happy Belated Birthday. I'm a horrible friend, although honestly, I didn't even know it was your birthday. Does that count for an excuse?

Happy Birthday!!

A Bible study/topic that always seems to get to my issues every time is Grace (2 Corinthians 12:9, among many others)! There are so many ways to discuss it... My church recently did a 13 week study on the Fruit of the Spirit. Lots of good stuff there too!

Praying and knowing you will be a GREAT vessel for Jesus to teach through!

I'm still in the middle of studying Daniel. We did Beth Moore's Daniel as a group Feb-April. Then I started teaching the book of Daniel to my ladies Sunday school class. I just took some of the info Beth taught me, some from other teachers, some from a couple of commentaries, some from online info and am teaching verse by verse. Working on Lesson 8 this week. I usually only have time for half a chapter each lesson. The lesson on the fiery furnace is by far the most powerful one I've taught! So much for us to learn from that one! I know you'll do well with whatever subject God lays on your heart!

God bless you!

Hey Sweet Susan!

Love that picture, your daughter is BEAUTIFUL.

God is teaching me what it truly means to trust Him in ALL things, to give thanks, and to stand on His word.

I'm being tested now, but I know in the end I'll be more like HIM.

I know God will use you in such a mighty way as you teach that class!

Hi Susan, beautiful photos.

Lately I've been studying, reading and meditating on the fruit of the spirit.

It's my desire that my character be more like Jesus. I rededicated myself this week to focusing first on the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

You can't go wrong when you start of right.

blessings,
Vickie

Susan,
Happy belated birthday! I thought we were the same age!! :-)

Loved the pics of your daughter. She's a cutie like her mom. I know what you mean about school. We have three plus weeks, but the kids are checked out.

Praying for your selection of a topic. One thing that comes to mind is the Sermon on the Mount or just a portion of it, like the Beatitudes.

BTW...I loved the pictures from the hike from the last post. I wanted to jump into the pic and join you. Nature certainly testifies to the awesomeness of our Creator!

Blessings to you, my friend,
Kelli

I'm a little behind in my blog reading so I guess it's too late to make any suggestions for your teaching. I pray that it all went well though.

Lately, mentoring has been on my mind... wanting to show what the Lord has done in my life to the younger generation (younger in age or spiritual maturity). Making sure they can move from a relationship with me... to a fulfilling relationship with the Lord. Our pastor's wife had pointed out how Moses mentored Joshua... but who did Joshua mentor? We need to keep passing the torch.

While I was on vacation I started reading Elizabeth George's book, A Woman's High Calling 10 Essentials for Godly Living. It is very challenging and the examples that she uses are all from women in the Bible. I plan to read and study the examples through the summer.

You are too cute! Happy belated 29 and holding birthday!!! :) You don't look a day over 28 to me! :)

And I bet you did a fabulous job teaching on Sunday! I am going to be teaching in two weeks...I think I am actually going teach on what God has been showing me through the root bound plant. :)

Hugs, sweet friend! Oh, and this is my sad face. :( Sad because I saw on Nichole's blog that you may drop in at She Speaks on Thursday...but I won't be there until Friday. Maybe we can catch up after school starts back. All my gals will be full day!

Love,
K

Happy Birthday! The big 3-0 is quickly approaching for me, but I think I'll stay at 29 as well. Fabulous idea! :)

I've been reading a lot in the New Testament lately. I love reading Paul's letters to the early church and comparing it to where our church is today. Are we staying the course? Very interesting stuff in there.

Have a great week!
