What's on the top of your tree?

Mercy! Look at all that ribbon! This was only one box of many! My precious friend, Alice, loves her some ribbon!!! She has oodles an oodles of it stored away. Just waiting for people to put on a sad face and say, "I don't know how to make a pretty bow!!" So, "bow-making 101" class began last night after my first Christmas party of the season! Alice also hosted this! Our women's ministry leadership team got together and had food, fun, and fellowship last night. Oh, I love these ladies!

Well, Caci and Jennifer weren't quite ready to go home after the party was over...something about letting their hubbies put the kiddos down for the night! Imagine that! I NEVER would have done anything like that when my boys were little!!! HAAAA! I needed to pick up child #1 after basketball practice around 10ish, so I was prepared to chill out and visit some more. But the boxes of ribbon were just sitting there...tempting us....teasing us with their gorgeous hues and shiny glittery sparkles!!! Alice asked us if we wanted her to show us how she made her bows. Well, duh! Of course we did! She was so patient, so loving, so sweet to share her tips on bow-making 101. Unfortunately, we 3 failed the class, and Alice wound up making each of us bows!!! Mine are gorgeous!!
Alice is making mine in the picture. The ribbon came from Sam's.
So, that leads me to ask y'all...what do you put on top of your Christmas tree? I will put the bows towards the top of the tree with a star or angel on the tippy top. (I haven't found either one of them yet in my ornament boxes!!) I would LOVE to hear your stories! Please share!!
Jennifer also shared her yummy recipe with our group for orzo and wild rice. Y'all...delicious! I'll share it with you later in the week.
BTW, Beth is having a darlin' give-away at her blog! Cute, cute, cute!! Go over and put your name in the hat!!

Sweet Blessings!

I do love a good bow! What fun ribbon you had to choose from, too.

I have a couple of silver bows, some red, silver and white sticks/sprays/picks, and a red star on the very top.

Scott tried to put a minii Gamecock helment on the top of the tree. I did not let this happen. LOL! We have a sweet little angel on our now.

We had a tree for years and years and then I asked for an angel. So then we alternated between an angel and a star for awhile. Now, we don't really have Christmas trees anywhere. Just little two foot tall things... :)

Well, if I put a bow on top of my tree, it would be one of those peel and stick numbers! We use an angel, but have used a star in the past. Honestly, I don't give it much thought. I'm just glad when it's all up and done for another year.

I know, call my Scrooge.

Thanks for you sweet comment on my blog. I'm going to check out your friend's post.

I haven't put up my tree yet...hope to this week. Usually I put up an angel, but last year I put up some little glittered berries on top. Sounds different, but it actually turned out kinda pretty.

I have a cutesy little sign that is padded muslin that is embroidered "Joy". There are three little little bells that were the kind of bells that used to be on the little white shoes of infants. Remember those?

We have a star on the top of the tree! Our youngest son - who's the tallest in our family - puts the star on for us. At 6' 5", it's easy for him!

Thanks so much for entering my giveaway, becoming a follower, and mentioning my giveaway on your blog...you ROCK! :-)

OK... where do I start... I put up a lot of trees! LOL

I have an antique finial tree topper on our living room tree, plaid bow underneath and some wire w/ stars - curly cue'd! The living room is an antique reproduction finial & bows. The small guest room tree has an angel, our room a star, the mudroom and angel, the other guest room gold bows. I need to learn to make some of those bows. All of mine have been made by my mom or my friend Jill!!!

I say we do a Christmas tour tag post! ;)

Susan,
I have a very casual tree in our tv room that has a gold star that we have had for years on it. I have a "pretty" tree in our living room with a new glass angel. (I'm still trying to get used to her. I like simple things!)
Sure wish I had some friends who could teach me how to make those gorgeous bows!
Merry Christmas!
Lynn

LOVE this question! I may have to ask the same thing of my readers!!!
I have an angel on top of our tree, I received it when I was a teenager. She has been on top of every tree I've ever had.

Hugs!!!

How I have missed you, friend!! Thanks for stopping by for a visit. It seems so hard to find time to blog lately.

We put an angel on the tippy-top of our tree. We have had the same angel since our first Christmas together. Sadly, when we pulled it out this year, she did not light.

My heart broke. We have a tradition...one I love. Every Christmas we choose our tree, decorate her, turn out all the lights, gather around as a family, and flip the switch to light the entire tree and the angel. We have to search for a new angel and make her just as special.

I do love bows and have them on my banister and on the wreath on my front door.

I need a bow-making class. Peppermint Forest makes my bows. :-)

Wish some of your craftiness would rub off on me!!

Love you,

Wendy

Bow tie-ing is definitely out of my comfort zone! ha I have tried many times to learn but my fingers just won't cooperate!

As for a tree, we stopped putting one up several years ago. Our house is super small and we use wood heat so can't safely use a live tree. And we don't have any space for an artificial one. The past few years I have just put up a small fiber optic tree on a table just for the grandkids. And so far this year I have not even climbed into the attic to get my decorations down. Not even sure I'm going to take the energy to decorate. So much drama going on in my extended family that I can't concentrate on decorating.

Hey Susan. Usually a big bow tops my tree - just like yall made. Some years it's gold, some it's burgandy, this year it's cranberry red. And this year my tree has gone to the birds! (posted about it today)

Hope your computer issues are soon solved.

Merry Christmas! ~ Rachel
