"I Wear My Sunglasses at Night..."

Did you know that the moon casts shadows? I realized that quite early this morning as I went out for my run. I opened the front door to be greeted by a brilliant light! The moon was just gorgeous and shone brightly on the road. I felt confident in my footfalls on the pavement--I could actually see any potholes! Then, of course, songs started going through my head! "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night," and "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" just sorta stayed with me until I finished my run.

Do you ever get something just stuck in your head--a song, an old conversation that should have gone a different way, a situation that has not even occurred yet? Sometimes, while I'm running, this happens (especially when my ipod is NOT working!!). It can be quite aggravating unless it is something positive. It does help to pass the time while I'm chalking up miles.

What I have come to realize is that the best thoughts to put in your head are from Jesus :). If I can focus on having a conversation with Him, I feel like my time has been well spent. You see, I'm getting into high mileage now in preparation for an upcoming marathon. In order to run and finish strong, I have to train diligently---or else I'll bonk! I have bonked too many other times, and it is not fun! (Running out of energy due to lack of hydration, calories, or not enough practice is considered bonking.) So, I am in "guilty" mode at the moment. I really needed to finish cleaning my house and pack--we're going to visit my parents this weekend after another cross country meet. I didn't accomplish those chores yet. I DID get my long run in for the week--which I know is important. Chores were neglected, but I did spend some quality time talking to God!

Have you had some quality time with Him this week? This day? What did you talk about? And even more importantly, what did He say? Carve time from your busy day to spend with Him! It thrills Him when we do! "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13

Many blessings,

Well, I am not a runner but I do walk early most mornings and you are right, the moon has been shining brightly the past couple of mornings.
I love that quiet time in the dark of the morning, when I can just spend time with my creator. To talk, to listen to just be with him.
Have a great weekend.

Dog gone you, now I have that song in my head, the tune and all...I wear my sunglasses at night so I can, so I can see...or however the words go. :-)

Yes, I've had some wonderful spiritual moments with the Lord while walking my 2.2 miles and listening to His worship tunes. However, today I was NOT successful. Instead, I saw myself critiquing everyone's house and telling myself I wouldn't have that color of shutter, oh but that shutter color and brick go together, oh that house color choice is hideous. Of course, then I find myself up on a soap box, even considered blogging about it, as a lady was ALLOWING her dog to pooh in someone's yard. Oh nothing irks me more! Of course, then there's the person who let his dog pooh on the very edge of the road just so someone like me could possibly step in it. I guess that person felt proud he didn't let his dog pooh in the yard.

Okay, this is not the up lifting comment you wanted but it's honest.

So, I did attempt to transition my thoughts to God and a conversation with Him.

I admire you: 1) for running SO early the moon is still out 2) running so faithfully and regularly 3) running, period. I'm trying to walk more regularly so I can begin to wog...that is intermitant walking and jogging.

Hope you have a nice weekend.

Love ya,

These days, due to something my son did, I have the song "It's a small world" running through my head over and over and over....

I did enjoy time in God's Word today. The lesson He has been repeating - that is getting stuck in my head - is that learning the Word is good, but living it out is needed. Changes lie ahead. My 'being' needs to be reflected in my 'doing'.

Have a great weekend,
Love ya,

I loved your post today. First of all, I am such a song bird - I do sing all the time and get songs stuck in my head. (Did you know that is called an ear-worm when that happens?)

Second of all, I also have the negative things that swirl around in there and won't go away.

Finally, I have the Voice of Truth, God, who tells me what I really need if I just listen.

I just loved this post!

I love going on walks and being able to talk to Him...when the chores around my house cannot stare at me and distract me! :)

Sweet blessings to you! May God show you what to put your hands to, as far as chores go, and what not to worry about! :)

Praying for no bonking!!! :)

Amen to this! If we fill our heads with garbage, well we'll think garbage thoughts. God's Word is lkike good nurtition for the soul!

I did get my time in this week. I had to actually write out my prayers because my mind was in such a fog I could not remember what I had been praying just seconds before. I have spent time all over His word this week and He has spoken volumes about trusting Him and depending on Him.

Thank you for such a wonderful reminder to make sure we get our spiritual food :)

Also stop by my blog when you have a chance. Today's post has a surprise for you!
