If you could see the look on Child #1's face as he rares back to throw that snowball, you would be able to visualize the amazing snowball wrestling match that took place in our yard yesterday. Back yard, side yard, front yard....everywhere. They had a glorious time rolling around in the snow! Join me at Darcy's for more fun pictures today!
With a new year upon us, many of you have made New Year's Resolutions. I chose not to! I am
instead looking at one word to be my goal this year. So many of you had a "word" for the year weeks ago. I didn't! Why didn't God give me a word? Well, you have to ask, which I did. But you also have to listen! And that means being quiet enough to hear Him! Last week while running, I received my word!
Pursue.
Not pursuing food or exercise or great shopping deals. Nope, pursuing Him! I have been chasing after Him for some time now. Chasing was not exactly the word that best described how I felt. It was pursue. I am pursuing His Word so that I can better know Him and try to be more like Him in my days to come. I want to have the joy and compassion and peace and self control and love that we hear about in Galatians. It is not something that I can do alone. I need to rely on His strength moment by moment. Staying in His Word with Bible Studies is a wonderful way to be connected. I am again reading through the Word with Wendy Pope this year and loving it! Also, I will be starting a study next Tuesday on Ephesians at church. We sorta got snowed out today!
So, how are you going to pursue the LORD this year? Bible Studies, retreats, mission work...share with me!
Sweet Blessings,

sweet shot, susan! what fun! :)
Fabulous photo, one of those in the right place at the right time!
Love the photo! :)
I will be pursuing ...Family which is my word. I need to focus more on them...through my focus on Him. :) If that makes sense. This year is shaping up to be incredibly busy and I need to focus on them and Him at the same time in order to keep it all straight. With a mission trip and adoption this year, I hope to be able to accomplish the goal. :)
Blessings to you as you pursue Him!!!
great shot and love your word!
i never did it before either but this year it is INTENTIONAL!
many blessings to you as you pursue God - you will find Him!!!

I feel deeply that in pursuing Him last year through the word SEEK, this year He has spoken PEACE and ABIDE to my heart.
WHEN I "abide" with Him, then I have "peace".
Lovingly-
Yolanda
Pursue is a great word! My word is JOY. After the year we had in 2010, I've learned that in all things, "The JOY of the LORD is my STRENGTH."
Love you!
P.S. The snowball fight sounds like loads of fun!
and the word I seem to lean toward is MORE... and I would add many of those mentioned here...
pursue
intentional
joy
they all remind me of the verse that says 'you will seek me and you will find me when you search for me with your whole heart'.(Jer.29:13)
Good words to begin this year Susan! Me too...
Hugs!
Love this precious sister! I live pursuing Him too. Have you ever read The Pursuit of God by A.W.Tozer? I read it first time in 2001 and a few times since. Great read.
Love you! Praying for you as you purse more of HIM!
I like your word! I plan on reading my bible more and would love to get involved with a bible study group. Hope you enjoyed the snow!
I will be meeting bi-weekly with my area missionary for a book study!!!! Quiet time is so very important!!!! I will actually be going to a great church I started going to and college and career. I volunteer at the city mission to work with inner city girls and I can NOT wait to put myself on the bone marrow donor list!!!! I hope God grows us all in a new/stronger way this year!!!!
P.S. Thoroughly impressed you ran a 50 miler!! WOW! You're lucky--that's impossible for me.
In writing more of my story, and some study as well. I don't have a group right now, but I'm going to pursue one. Oh, and I also want to begin with some volunteer work at the cancer center... I will rest and heal for a season before pursuing it though.
peace, sister, sweet one~elaine
Yours is the second blog I've read in the last few days with a word for the year! I LOVE your word! I am going to pray and see what word the Lord gives to me for the year!
Hope you are enjoying your snow! It's cold, cold, cold in Indy and we have plenty of snow! More coming this weekend and then again next week! It's winter - so bring it! :) I love trail running in the snow!
Thought I better get my running shoes on and run on over your way. I'm so glad I did. What a great question and equally great challenge to all of us. To pursue Him is such a worthy act of intentionality!
Blessings,
Kathleen
P.S. My words for 2011 are: Be it done unto me according to Your word.
