Christmas Gift Ideas!!!

Hey, y'all! Is it cold enough for you? Mercy! It's freezing down here in the south! I don't do this kind of weather!

Hope that some of you have thought about Christmas presents by now! There are only 19 days left until Christmas. I should be in a panic because I only have a few purchased. But, I refuse to let it get to me ( call me on the 24th, and we'll see if a panic attack has set in or not!)

Ok, time to share some fun gift giving ideas for those of us on a Bu-Jay. You have less than a week to find something really cute and fun and special for some of your closest girlfriends. You have wracked your brains out trying to come up with an original idea...you have done the Bath and Body Works lotions (which I LOVE!!!), candles, ornaments, etc. You need something new...vibrant...exciting. Are y'all getting the picture? I need some ideas!! Quickly! But this is something that we can all benefit from!

List two or three items under 20$ and the store where they can be purchased (online stores/etsy are great options!) Let's see what we can come up with that will relieve a little stress. On your mark...get ready... go!!!

1) Half of a pound cake on a nice plate from Target, Marshalls, etc.
2) A plug- in from Scentsy and some bricks to go with it in a cute drawstring pouch (Contact your nearest Scentsy rep.)
3) A new cookbook (You know where to get these! Church ones are the BEST!) and a cute Christmas spatula( Cracker Barrel, Target)

Ok--your turn! Impress all of us with some really cool ideas...quickly!

Sweet Blessings!

I know I have probably shared this before, but my husband LOVES this stuff called Ravens Nest Spice Mix. I have taken these packets, attached to a bottle of apple cider, w/ a pretty bow and Christmas ornament. Make a great gift, and and especially yummy warm cider drink. Don't know where you could purchase in your area, many specialty shops carry this, but you can order it directly from Raven's Nest. That is how it is listed on line. How about a pretty scarf to wear with t-shirt & jeans. Not much shopping going on around here. We are doing more simple at Christmas around here. Glad to see you are still out there, and the kitchen renov. has begun right here in the middle of the holidays! but it is full steam ahead. I will have to give up a little decor for something I am going to enjoy for a long time to come. Happy shopping. Jackie

You have totally inspired a blogpost! I'll have to do a Christmas gift prayergift post.

All the gift ideas you mentioned would be even more special (and no more expensive) if you paired them with a prayergift. It doesn't have to be a long letter..just a personalized prayer written in a christmas card using a thematic scripture. You know...for the cooking..you could pray they would taste and see the Lord is good. For the bubble bath, you could use a scripture about the warmth of His presence or how he washes us white as snow...

You get the idea.

How about a gift certificate for a pedicure? May be a dollar or two over $20 but really, who doesn't love a pedi?

An IOU for a meal for your friend's family, perhaps.

If you have lots of pics of you and your friend together, you could even make a 2011 calendar. could also scavenge pics from her family of the fam and put them on a calendar for her.

Oh, and how about a Bible study workbook? Hmmm, do you know anyone who has a new Bible study out? Hahahahaha!!

Hey Sweet Lady,
My sister and I did this last year because we were both hurting financially. We are both better off this year but may still do it because it was so fun!
We made each other a main course meal (Needed to be freezable), put it in a pretty disposable dish and shared the recipes.
It was so much fun trying to decide which dish her family would enjoy, how to display it, and then making a cool recipe sheet.
It turned out to be my favorite present last year.

Oh and I think I'll add Leebird's idea about the prayergift too!

Awesome ideas. Also, holiday shoppers looking to go green should consider eGift cards over traditional plastic. According to Plenty Magazine, plastic gift card waste accounts for 75 million lbs of the PVC found in landfills each year. http://www.giftzip.com is the eco-friendly alternative, allowing you to shop, send, and receive virtually. GiftZip.com offers over 200 retailers ensuring you can find something for everyone on your list. Hope that helps!

I've put a link on my blog today for my friend's etsy shop... she does photography like you and has some adorable note cards for sale ($6.25 per set). Also, my friend Leah has done a wonderful Bible study! In addition, Moravian spice cookie tins are always a hit, and Harry and David's are carrying some wonderful dip mixes and chocolates! Can you tell I'm further ahead in my shopping than you?

Hi Susan:

I'm so glad to see you back... we miss our friends when life interfere's with our blogs!! :)

Love this and need ideas myself. I always think a really bright and cleverly wrapped bread or cookies is a welcome gift... when you draw that red or green clear wrap up and use a big bow with a trim hanging from it... I also love the comment on a meal or casserole... I don't know ANYONE who wouldn't love that!

I'm short on new ideas this year, but I'll check back here and see if there are some new ideas for both of us!

Hugs!

I personally love food gift baskets that have stuff I'd never buy for myself - I love the infused olive oil! Oh. Yum! Paired with some fresh baked bread...perfection in a basket!

Or how about postcards? Or homemade soap?

Oh, and to answer your Q about the lens I used for the daisy shot - it was just my kit lens (18-55mm).

Hi there Susan,
I've been shopping all day and my brain says no more! Although I do think homemade gift/food baskets are really special.

Hope your Christmas season has been filled with much peace and joy. Enjoy the last few days leading up to Christmas.

Merry Christmas! Sending a frosty hug from Philadelphia.

Greetings, Susan!

I have often been on a budget at Christmas too. Seems everyone likes the homemade gifts the best. Sometimes I made fudge, salsa in a decorative jar is a hit as well as flavored olive oil (rosemary looks really pretty in the glass bottles). I have also painted soup mugs (made them personal with names of people on them) and ornaments. I gave prayer gifts and put them in nice frames per Lee's inspiration too. Hope that helps you! Wishing you and your family a joyous Christmas and wonderful 2011! Hugs.

Merry Christmas! I have missed your blog. Once again, a busy schedule has overwhelmed me and I have not been able to stay caught up here in Blogworld.
I love this post. Great ideas.
This year, my favorite gift to give has been the Woodwick candle. Love those candles!
